Directed by David Koepp

Written by David Koepp from the book by Richard Matheson

Starring Kevin Bacon, Kathryn Erbe, Kachary David Cope and Illeana Douglas

‘Stir Of Echoes’ was released a couple of weeks after ‘The Sixth Sense’. Although it received some good reviews it was unfavourably compared to the M Night Shyamalan film.

“Where The Sixth Sense makes you feel like you’re enveloped in an atmosphere of the uncanny, Sir Of Echoes makes you feel like you’re being toyed with.”
Jay Boyar, Orlando Sentinel

It failed to repeat the success of the earlier film and grossed $21 million at the box office. ‘The Sixth Sense’ grossed a whopping $673 million.

Kevin Bacon is in great form here, in a role that was made for his particular screen persona. Kathryn Erbe, playing his wife, is also excellent, although her role requires that she play second fiddle to him. Erbe is best known as Detective Alexandra Eames in ‘Law And Order: Criminal Intent’, and she deserves an award simply for surviving 100 plus episodes of that show in the face of the mesmerising pirouetting lunacy of Vincent D’Onofrio’s performance.

Psychological thrillers, haunted houses and ghost stories – all perfect for me. I really enjoyed watching ‘Stir Of Echoes’.

The director and writer David Koepp has also written the screenplays for a large number of box office blockbusters, including ‘Jurassic Park’, ‘Mission Impossible’, ‘Panic Room’ and ‘Spider Man’. He is the writer of the long awaited ‘Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull’.
